LIMITED
Thursday June 25, 2026 10:00am - 11:30am EDT

Take your understanding of use in walking and running to a new level and enjoy the practical benefits of this knowledge! Sound Flow: Space and Resonance
LIMITED
Thursday June 25, 2026 11:45am - 1:15pm EDT
Limited Capacity seats available
This class adds vocalizations to a gentle movement sequence to encourage sensory and spatial awareness. We begin in semi-supine, using the floor and Alexander directions to support small movements of the arms and legs from a sense of the whole body. Simple vocalizations are then added to vibrate and resonate the spaces we discover from the inside out. Putting in pauses to release habits or judgement, we will increase our stamina of attention through more complex movements and sounds while sitting, all fours, and finally standing. This class can be an excellent warmup for voice study or as a daily movement calibration, as the relative ease of vocalization and movement indicates ease in the body.

Games for Hands and Feet Or How Our Extremities Boost Our Up!
LIMITED
Friday June 26, 2026 10:00am - 11:30am EDT
Limited Capacity seats available
This class offers an opportunity to explore the nuances and possibilities in how we access our awareness and use our extremities. While we rely on our hands and feet for daily activities we often don’t give them our full attention either in what they are doing or how they relate to our sense of self.  This workshop serves as an exploration of their form, function, coordination and relationship to the whole through play that is designed to pique our interest in what hands and feet do.

The workshop will begin with playful movement explorations designed to highlight awareness of the extremities, especially the hands and feet. These exercises can be performed individually and are easily adaptable and accessible to use with students. We will then work in pairs or small groups to explore what we “see, feel, sense” in ourselves and in others while exploring movement patterns and coordination.  Sensing how the fingers/wrist/elbow respond to and activate shoulder and back.  Or how the movement of the foot affects the hips and spine or visa versa.  As we continue our explorations we will also look at how renewed interest in the extremities can activate our “up” and a fuller expression of ease.

Your Body, Your Instrument; Jessica Wolf’s Art of Breathing for Working With Performers
LIMITED
Sunday June 28, 2026 10:00am - 11:30am EDT
Limited Capacity seats available
"Your body is fueled by your breath” (Jessica Wolf), and is the primary means of expression for an artist, regardless of discipline.

Designated Art of Breathing teacher trainers Rachel Bernsen, Eleanor Taylor and Rebecca Tuffey share activities and approaches from the Art of Breathing to expand your teaching repertoire for working with a range of performing artists including dancers, singers, actors, and instrumentalists.
Jessica’s legacy in establishing the Alexander program at the Yale’s School of Drama over 26 years and her extensive work with professional performers is exemplified in Art of Breathing’s explorations of sound, movement, addressing performance anxiety, and her trademark “Breathing Costume” work for actors. Rebecca, Eleanor, and Rachel each bring considerable experience working with performers at all levels. All teachers and trainees are welcome to join us for this experiential workshop.

How our workshop will be accessible:
For participants with limited mobility we will offer seated modification for floor activities, such as the lie-down. We will also offer modifications and seated options for all explorations and partnering activities involving standing and moving through space. We will have an access needs check in at the beginning of our workshop and individual student needs will be honored and accommodated throughout.
